On behalf of the Yim Hmoob Educational Association (YHEA), I would like to welcome you to our web site.

This web site is a part of our effort to publish articles concerning educational, cultural, social and economic developments for the Hmong people world-wide. We hope that it will serve as a good resource that will not only encourage education among the Hmong, but  will also provide a better understanding about the Hmong culture and its traditions.

For the past fourteen years, the board and officers of YHEA have sacrificed their time and efforts to accomplishing many of this organization's services to the Hmong community and the refugees of San Diego. This relentless group has coordinated and assisted with the publication of articles, fundraising for scholarship funds(in which thirty-one Hmong students have received grants), conducted the Hmong sessions for the San Diego City Schools District Annual Parent Involvement Conference, Tobacco Prevention Projects, referrals, and individual counseling.

Even though we realize the importance of promoting education among the Hmong, we also stress the need to educate the youth about their culture. Therefore, a minority of the Board of Trustees are involved in programs conducted by the Bayside Community Center that are devoted towards keeping many of the Hmong cultural traditions in existence. These programs range from learning how to implement the "Qeej" and to construct it, learning the Hmong language,  and learning wedding songs. We believe that this will help keep the Hmong heritage in existence for generations to come.
